Roland earned his B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America. He is also an active member of the District of Columbia Bar. His professional experience spans international development work in Mali, West Africa, securities and project finance work for a New York law firm, and legal work at two securities regulatory bodies in Washington, DC. |
Roland Escher's main fields of interest are:
- Corporate Governance: During the current financial crisis, corporate governance has gained new importance. Governance generally -- in corporations, non-profit organizations, and government -- is key to reducing downside risk, maximizing returns, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Emerging Markets: Governance and business development are the most challenging, and potentially rewarding, in emerging markets. While the economies of the Western, developed world are saturated, emerging markets -- particularly in Africa and the Middle East -- have significant hidden potential.
- Corporate and Securities Law: Roland would love to practice in a law firm, for a consulting firm, or for a private equity group, with a focus on securities transactions, investment management, and corporate governance.
- Non-Profit Organizations: Roland would also join the exempt organizations group of a law firm or the legal staff of a non-profit; he is particularly interested in environmental protection, organizational governance, and civil society development.
Please contact Roland directly if you would like to discuss a potential employment opportunity.
